Bike safety rules
We talked about choosing a bike, health benefits of cycling, bike apparel so let’s talk today about safety which is a very important issue for all cyclists.
It is true that regular cyclists enjoy a health level equal to that of a person ten years younger. That is if cycling is safe and no accidents occur. Unfortunately not all cyclists are lucky and sometimes they get into situations where their health is irreversibly damaged. To avoid this every cyclist should know the basic rules of bike safety.
Bike gear is fine but you should know how to behave on the road and not get hit by a passing vehicle. It is advisable to have a head light and turn it on even in the daytime. When a car is pulling out of a driveway or a parking lot it’s easy for the driver to miss you. If you are wearing a bright light you will be noticed straight away. When you are passing by a parked vehicle, ride away from it in order to not be hit if a door is opened suddenly. When you are taking a turn always slow down considerably so you can stop if necessary and react to the situation in time. And lastly, never stop in the blind spot (to the right of the car), but rather stop behind the car where you can be easily seen. If you follow these simple rules you will be able to benefit from cycling in full.
